75 minutes Interview with Don the Developer about Nucamp coding bootcamps

A couple of months ago I came across Don The Developer (aka Don Hansen) on Career Karma via a post of his interview with 3 graduates from Nucamp. I'm always looking for objective feedback and seeing the chance to listen to some from the outside, I had to watch.

I was first surprised by the length of the video—75 minutes long. That's a long time to talk about Nucamp! I listened and was impressed by the depth of the discussion and how honest the exchanges between Don and the students were. It was a genuine effort to find out what was good and bad about Nucamp and offer recommendations on what to improve.

And it was fun! You could tell everyone on the show had a really good time. They all had the chance to talk about their passion—coding...for 75 minutes.

It turns out that Don The Developer is an industry figure known to offer direct and honest feedback. He's also been through the coding bootcamp experience and was able to land several jobs as a developer / software engineer. Eventually he decided to create his own unique thing which so far has no equivalent in the coding bootcamp industry: interviewing bootcamp graduates.

As I listened, I was drawn in and *I* wanted to join the discussion. There was so much I could have shared to provide additional perspective and insights.

So I reached out to Don in mid-December and suggested that we do a "behind the scenes" together. I invited him to our internal Slack channels where he got to see us interact with instructors and students. Then we set a date for the interview.

And let me tell you: 75 minutes is very long time to be under Don's microscope. He had 7 questions for me about Nucamp based on the graduates' feedback.

Sometimes it was uncomfortable, but it was worth it. By the end of 75 minutes, anyone watching is going to know exactly what Nucamp stands for, what we're trying to accomplish for students, and how different we are from other coding bootcamps.

And, if you watch the interview, I am confident you will know for sure if you should sign up with Nucamp or another coding bootcamp. Let us know in the comment section below!
